NOT TAKING PAY DURING SHUTDOWN
Due to a failure to compromise, our government shut down on July 1. As your elected official I deeply apologize for the pain, difficulty and problems this has caused you, your families, and our community. Standing with the 22,000 laid-off state workers and in acknowledgment of the fact that the blame of this shutdown lies with all elected officials — Republicans and Democrats — I will be donating my legislative salary to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in N. St. Paul.
Work must continue toward a compromise and a budget solution, and I will be working as hard as I can to reach a balanced and fair agreement. I am committed to a compromise budget – just not a budget that compromises Minnesota’s future.
