RECENT APPOINTMENTS

As a legislator, I have the opportunity and privilege to serve in various roles on legislative commissions and committees that are delegated specific tasks to carry out in the interest of the state. In order to keep you informed about what I am doing at the Capitol, I wanted to let you know that I have recently been appointed to serve on three such bodies.

Specifically, I will be serving on the Subcommittee on Employee Relations, the NCSL Standing Committee on Communications, Financial Services, and Interstate Commerce, and the Legislative Coordinating Commission.

Let me briefly explain the work each of these bodies is responsible for:

SUBCOMMITTEE ON EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
- On this subcommittee I will work to approve negotiated agreements, arbitration awards, and compensation plans for employees in the executive branch. I will also help monitor the state civil service system and make recommendations regarding certain state and local government salaries.

NCSL STANDING COMMITTEE ON COMMUNICATIONS, FINANCIAL SERVICES, AND INTERSTATE COMMERCE
- On this committee I will be helping oversee state-federal relations on commerce, banking, insurance, securities, and other financial services issues. Basically, this body ensures that state' interests are addressed and protected in federal decisions regarding these areas.

LEGISLATIVE COORDINATING COMMISSION
- This commission regulates the compensation of employees for the state's joint agencies and commissions. All joint agency budgets are reviewed and approved by the commission.

In addition to these legislative bodies, I also serve on the Public Safety and Civil Justice Committee, Public Safety Finance Division, Rules and Legislative Administration Committee, and as Vice Chair of the Commerce and Labor Committee.

I encourage residents of District 55A to contact me with concerns regarding any issue of state government.
I am here to ensure that the needs of our community are heard at the Capitol. Citizen involvement in the legislative process is extremely important.

You can contact me by phone at (651) 296-1188, 353 State Office Building, 100 Martin Luther King Blvd., St. Paul, MN 55155 or via e-mail at rep.leon.lillie@house.mn.
