Rep. Lillie Recognized for Freshman Contributions
State Representative Leon Lillie (DFL - Maplewood/North St. Paul) was one of the freshman legislators recognized by Politics in Minnesota, the state's premier public affairs news service, for his effectiveness in working across party lines.
All 26 freshmen legislators in the Minnesota House were named "2006 Freshman Legislator of the Year" and were called "bright, shining stars" who "brought earnestness and enthusiasm" to the House of Representatives, as well as a "refreshing willingness to work with members of the other party".
According to Politics in Minnesota, the "we don't have to do it the way it's always been done" attitude of the freshmen legislators such as Lillie bodes well for the years to come as these representatives climb the seniority ladder.
