(ST. PAUL) -- Tuesday, May 3 is National Teacher Day. Minnesota legislators are taking time to honor their local educators and acknowledge the crucial role teachers play in making sure every student receives a quality education. In honor of teachers everywhere, State Representative Tina Liebling (DFL-Rochester) released the following statement.
“My three kids went to Rochester public schools and many of their teachers were excellent. The education they received started each of them on a path to higher education.
“Public schools also gave my kids the opportunity to know and appreciate students from different circumstances than their own. Student diversity in background, interests, and learning styles is one of the strengths of our public schools.
“Today, teachers often work under difficult circumstances. They face many challenges but they press on because they love their students and are committed to their success. These teachers are unsung heroes who deserve our support and respect."
