ST. PAUL, MN – Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher has appointed Representative Tina Liebling (DFL-Rochester) to the Conference Committee on Public Safety. The committee will begin meeting this week to work out differences between the House and Senate public safety bills.
"Representative Liebling has been a tireless champion on behalf of increased public safety," said Speaker Kelliher. "Her support of our communities, our courts and Minnesota's entire criminal justice system, combined with her legislative focus on matters of law and the judiciary will serve our state well as the conference committee begins its important work."
The Conference Committee is made up of member of the House and Senate charged with reconciling differences between the bills passed by each body. From there, the bill goes to the Governor for his signature.
"I am thrilled to be given this opportunity," said Liebling, who also serves as an Assistant Majority Leader in the House. "Ensuring the public safety and security of our citizens is one of the highest charges of state lawmakers. Crafting a strong bill that provides adequate resources to provide that safety and security is a challenge I look forward to taking on."
