Assistant Majority Leader Tina Liebling issued the following statement in response to passage of the House E-12 Education Omnibus Finance Bill. The bill passed with the overwhelming bipartisan support that has marked passage of all of the major finance bills, on a vote of 95 to 37.
"This bill helps ensure that students of modest income can continue to get a college education in Minnesota. It ends the era of double digit tuition increases and continues the Minnesota tradition of opportunity for success through education."
"The ongoing funding for the U of M – Mayo Clinic Biotechnology and Medical Genomics Partnership contained in this bill will allow the Partnership to continue its record of success in the fields of medicine and bioscience. This investment is already paying off in medical discoveries and economic development. It ensures a bright economic future for Rochester, the region and for all of Minnesota."
"I'm also pleased with the strong bipartisan support for this and each of the other finance bills that have come to the floor this week. I'm optimistic that the work we're doing this week will result in positive benefits for Minnesotans in every corner of the state.
