Assistant Majority Leader Tina Liebling issued the following statement in response to the passage of the House Omnibus Agriculture, Rural Economies and Veterans Affairs Finance Bill. The bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support on a vote of 131-2.
"We started today's House session with a moment of silence for yet another fallen Minnesotan, reminding us of our obligation to support our National Guard and active duty service members."
"Minnesota is currently fourth in the nation in the number of citizens serving overseas, even though we rank only 19th in total population. While other states struggle to meet recruitment goals, the Minnesota National Guard consistently meets or exceeds its goals, an indication of the value Minnesotans put on military service. "
Our soldiers and military families have courageously volunteered to serve our country. It's up to us to thank them for their service in every way we can."
