House Passes Bonding Bill With Funding for Rochester Biosciences, Public Safety Training Center

After overwhelming passage of the House bonding bill today, Rep. Tina Liebling (DFL – Rochester) was pleased with the outcome for Rochester bonding projects.

"2006 is shaping up to be another successful bonding year for the Rochester area," said Liebling. "After the great bonding year Rochester had in 2005, it's very satisfying to help continue that momentum, particularly in the biosciences sector. We are in a great position heading into conference committee, with support on most of our projects from both the House and Senate. The Legislature has recognized that these projects have merit, and are valuable to the entire state."

The Rochester Biosciences Development Center, Public Safety Training Center and funding for the Olmsted Waste to Energy Facility have passed as part of both the House and Senate bonding bills.

Funding for one of Rochester's proposals, completion of the National Volleyball Center, was not included in the House bonding bill but is in the Senate bill as the two versions head to conference committee.

"I will continue working to get the funding to complete the National Volleyball Center into the final bill," said Liebling.
