ST. PAUL – State Rep. Pat Garofalo recently earned a Guardian of Small Business Award for his efforts to improve Minnesota’s business climate and help people get back to work.
“Small businesses are the real backbone of our economy,” said Garofalo, R-Farmington. “The recession has made life difficult for a lot of businesses, but our businesses will be the ones to lead us back to prosperity if we just get out of the way and let them do what they do best. It’s an honor to receive this award and I will remain committed to helping our small businesses grow and expand the workforce.”
Garofalo received the award from the National Federation of Independent Business. State Director of NFIB/MN Mike Hickey said Garofalo was recognized for his votes in support of small business, including voting against several significant tax increases. Garofalo also supported legislation to expand the Small Employer Flexible Benefit Plan Law to more small businesses and individuals, and opposed a measure to raise the cost of Health Savings Account plans.
“Representative Garofalo is a strong supporter of small business at the Capitol and we really appreciate that” Hickey said. “He made many votes in support of small business and is a real friend. We are happy to announce that he has earned the Guardian of Small Business Award.”
