ST PAUL – Last week Governor Tim Pawlenty announced the appointment of State Representative Pat Garofalo [R-Farmington] to the Minnesota delegation of the Education Commission of the States; a highly-respected national organization headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The Commission is an interstate compact created in 1965 to improve public education by facilitating the exchange of information, ideas and experiences among state policymakers and education leaders. The Minnesota delegation consists of seven members, including the Governor.
“I am honored to serve as a member of our state’s delegate to the Education Commission of the States,” said Rep. Garofalo. “Minnesota has the reputation of being a national leader when it comes to education achievement and policy innovations. I’m looking forward to sharing our state’s successes with delegates from the rest of the country as well as learning about what’s working elsewhere.”
The 2009 National Forum on Education Policy will be held on Wednesday, July 8 in Nashville, Tennessee. More information about the Education Commission of the States can be found online at http://www.ecs.org/.
