HOUSE K-12 EDUCATION FINANCE COMMITTEE TO HOLD HEARING IN FARMINGTON
ST PAUL – On Tuesday, March 31, 2009, the House K-12 Education Finance Division will hold a committee hearing in the Little Theater at Farmington High School at 5:30 p.m. The hearing, hosted by State Representative Pat Garofalo [R-Farmington] the lead Republican on the committee, will be chaired by State Rep. Mindy Greiling [DFL-Roseville].
“I hope a lot of people are able to attend this hearing,” said Rep. Garofalo. “Rarely do legislators get a chance to get out of the Capitol or their own districts to hear from citizens – especially with an entire committee.
“Education is not only an important issue for people in Farmington, but with the state facing a $6.4 billion deficit, how we fund our schools for the next two years will be important for just about everyone in the state. If folks in Lakeville, Farmington and surrounding townships have something they feel is important to say about our education system in Minnesota – or if they just want to listen – I recommend they come out and participate in this hearing.”
The hearing is open to the public and is designed to be a forum for students, parents, teachers and the general public to discuss education issues with policy leaders in St. Paul.
