GAROFALO WINS GOP ENDORSEMENT
State Representative Pat Garofalo (R-Farmington) won his district’s Republican endorsement on March 18 to seek a second term to represent district 36B in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
In his first run for office in 2004, Garofalo handily defeated his DFL opponent with 62 percent of the vote. Although the freshman lawmaker announced in January his intentions to seek reelection, doubts were raised when a challenger from within his own party sought the GOP endorsement. However, all doubts have now been erased, Garofalo said.
“The delegates have spoken, and it is with great honor that I accept the GOP endorsement to be their candidate once again for district 36B,” Garofalo said. “As I said in January, I am looking forward to a vigorous campaign and the chance to continue serving my community in the Minnesota House of Representatives. It is my intention to continue to represent the values and concerns of my district – and my party – as I seek to secure another term as an advocate for district 36B in St. Paul.”
Garofalo is a network engineer with the Allianz Life Insurance Company in Golden Valley. He is a life-long resident of the area he represents, having grown up in Lakeville, graduated from Rosemount High School in 1989 and Mankato State University in 1994. He and his wife, Julie, live in Farmington with their two children.
