St. Paul, Minnesota – Today, Governor Mark Dayton released a $60 million supplemental budget for the 2012 – 2013 fiscal years. The budget funds the Dayton Jobs bill, increases benefits for Minnesota Veterans, Reverses some of the more devastating cuts to the Department of Human Services, and funds efforts to fight the spread of Asian Carp. The budget is funded through the closing of corporate tax loopholes.
Included in the budget is a $10 million appropriation to the Minnesota Investment Fund, which was included in the DFL jobs plan.
Regarding this budget, State Representative Patti Fritz issued the following statement:
“I am so enthused to see Governor Dayton include the Minnesota Investment Fund in his supplemental budget. Here in Faribault we’ve already seen the benefits of this program, with their investment in SAGE Electrochromics.
“In the past year, SAGE has added 160 new, good-paying jobs and has partnered with local colleges and universities in preparing students for this high tech manufacturing.
“I have already put this provision into a bill, HF 2186, and given its importance to our community, am pleased to see it being prioritized by the Governor."
