HOUSE CAPITAL INVESTMENT COMMITTEE TO TOUR AREA

St. Paul, MN – The House Capital Investment Committee will travel to the region next week to visit project sites that are under consideration for inclusion in next year's Capital Investment Bill. State Representative Patti Fritz (DFL-Faribault) will join them for their stops in District 26B.
The tour will begin on Wednesday, October 24th, in Northfield at the Public Safety and Regional Emergency Operations Center to hear about the need for construction of a new facility. From there they will travel to the Dundas Trailhead to hear about the completion of the Mill Towns Trail.
After leaving Northfield, the committee will travel to Faribault, where their first stop will be the Faribault Water Reclamation Facility. The tour will also include the State Academy for the Deaf, where they will consider a renovation project for Frechette Hall, and then to the South Central College, which is being considered for classroom renovation and addition.
In the afternoon, the bonding committee will go to Medford, where they will learn more about the proposed wastewater treatment facility improvements.
"All of these projects are extremely important to our communities," said Fritz. "With the intense competition for funding next session, I am very pleased the committee will visit our area so they can see firsthand how worthwhile these projects are."
Last session, the State Legislature passed a bonding bill that included some of these projects; however, that funding was lost as the result of the Governor's veto.

The schedule is as follows on Wednesday:
8:30 – 9:30 am Northfield Public Safety and Regional ER Operations Center, Dundas
10:00 – 10:30 am Faribault Water Reclamation Facility
10:45 – 11:30 State Academy for the Deaf
11:45 – 12:30 South Central College
1:00 – 1:30 Medford wastewater treatment facility
