ST. PAUL -- State Representative Matt Dean (R-Stillwater) was appointed to the Health Future Leader’s Corps (HFLC), a national organization affiliated with the National Conference of State Legislatures (NSCL) that provides objective health-related information and leadership training to legislators on critical and emerging health care policy issues.
Dean was selected because of his work on health care issues in 2005, including reforms to maintain access to quality healthcare.
“I am honored to be recognized by the nation’s coalition of legislatures and I am excited to join this group,” Dean said.
Only 50 legislators nationwide are chosen for the Leader’s Corps. They receive specialized health policy issue briefs and in-depth reviews of key legislative and program developments in the areas of managed care, Medicaid, long-term care and children’s health.
“By working with other legislators in the HFLC, I hope to gain a better insight into the health care issues facing Minnesota and use them to lower costs, improve quality and expand access,” Dean said.
The group’s first meeting is in Chicago December 6-7, 2005.
