ST. PAUL – State Representative Matt Dean, R-Dellwood, took the Oath of Office today for the 2009-2010 legislative biennium. This marks the third term in office for Rep. Dean, after being elected in 2004 and re-elected in 2006 and 2008.
“It is an honor to be trusted with the responsibility of speaking for our communities,” Dean said after the swearing-in ceremony at the State Capitol. “Whether Republican, Democrat, Independent or anything else, my job is to represent all of the people who sent me here and I will do that as best as I possibly can,” he added.
Dean will serve on four House committees this biennium. They are: Capital Investment (Bonding); Ways and Means; Health Care and Human Services; and Licensing. Dean will serve as the Lead Republican on the Licensing Committee and the Human Services portion of the Health Care and Human Services Committee. Serving in this position will allow Dean to promote fiscally responsible solutions that put families’ needs first.
“Health care is one of the biggest issues facing families and one of the largest parts of the state’s budget,” Dean said. “I look forward to working on solutions that will help families pay for their health care and control costs to taxpayers.”
Dean represents District 52B in Washington County, including Mahtomedi, Dellwood, Marine on St. Croix, part of Stillwater and surrounding townships.
