REP. MATT DEAN ANNOUNCES 2007 STILLWATER LEGISLATIVE SURVEY RESULTS

St. Paul – When it comes to knowing what the people of the district think “it’s the most important information I can take to St. Paul,” says Rep. Matt Dean (R – Dellwood). For several years he has done a survey throughout District 52B asking them their thoughts on a variety of issues that will come before the legislature. Rep. Dean commented that over 400 folks responded “making the results extremely accurate and more importantly valuable for helping relate your concerns”.

The survey, along with the results, of this years’ survey are:

1. If the 35W bridge can be built in 12 months without a special session, would you still support a special session to address transit and other tax issues before the February Session?
33% Yes
67% No

2. If the gas tax was to be increased, should it be spent on:
49% Roads and Bridges
46% Split between Transit, Roads, and Bridges
5% Bridge Safety Only

3. Do you support a 10 cents per gallon increase in the gasoline tax?
38% Yes
64% No

4. How often do you or your family use area parks and trails?
32% At least once a week
29% At least once a month
21% Once a year
18% Never

5. Do you support state funds being used for a new trail to connect Stillwater to the
Gateway Trail along Brown’s Creek?
63% Yes
37% No

6. I trust the economic information given to me regarding the financial needs of our local school district.
15% Strongly agree
29% Somewhat agree
20% Somewhat disagree
36% Strongly disagree

7. Minnesota ranks number 1 in the country for the number of insured. For
Minnesotans who are uninsured we should:
27% Make private insurance more affordable to the uninsured
25% Replace private insurance with a single payer government run plan for all
48% Expand coverage by reducing fraud and waste
