HOUSE BONDING COMMITTEE VISITS GREENLEAF STATE PARK

GREENLEAF TOWNSHIP, Minn. – Greenleaf State Park received a boost to its improvement efforts Thursday as members of the Minnesota House of Representatives Capital Investment Committee toured the park. The committee will consider including the park’s requests in the bonding bill to be passed by the legislature in 2006.

“I want to thank Rep. Dorman for bringing the committee to Meeker County to not only see the good work that will take place because of bonding passed this year, but also to see what more can be done with bonding next year,” said State Representative Dean Urdahl, R-Grove City. “The Committee seemed impressed with the park’s potential for this scenic, undeveloped area,” Urdahl added.

Representative Dan Dorman of Albert Lea chairs the Capital Investment Committee and brought members here as part of a fall tour to visit potential bonding projects throughout the region.

The park received $500,000 in 2005 for land acquisition. Rep. Urdahl and Senator Steve Dille authored the funding legislation.
