URDAHL ANNOUNCES DASSEL GAINS FINANCING APPROVAL

ST. PAUL – State Rep. Dean Urdahl, R-Grove City, announces the Minnesota Public Facilities Authority has approved a financing package that could save Dassel taxpayers more than $402,000 in water-related projects, including constructing a new water tower.

The Drinking Water Revolving Fund loan is $1.2 million for 20 years at an interest rate of 1.016 percent. The MPFA estimates the favorable financing conditions will save local taxpayers at least $402,610 in interest costs when compared with current market rates available for general obligation bonding.

“Congratulations to the people of Dassel,” said Urdahl, a member of the Capital Investment Committee that authorizes funding for these types of programs. “I was happy to support PFA funding that was used for this project.”

Urdahl successfully authored legislation in the 2008 session to increase PFA funding, providing added financial support for projects. In addition to building the new water tower and demolishing the existing one, Dassel will make upgrades to its water treatment control and pump, as well as modifying the connecting water main.
