Thissen Introduces New DFL House Majority

(St. Paul, Minnesota) — Today, State Representative Paul Thissen and the House DFL Caucus introduced some of the members of the newly-elected DFL majority in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Rep. Thissen said that with the campaign over, the new House DFL majority was ready to get to work.

“Minnesota is facing some big challenges ahead, but our new and returning members are ready to get to work for the middle class,” said Thissen. “Voters said loud and clear yesterday that they expect their legislators put aside the extreme partisanship, end the gridlock and work together to find common ground in order to move our state forward. That’s precisely what this new DFL majority will do.”

Thissen also took a moment to thank candidates from both parties and House Speaker Kurt Zellers.

“Campaigns can be fierce, but at the end of the day every Minnesotan who is willing to devote themselves to public service deserves our thanks,” said Thissen. “I want to thank Speaker Zellers for his service as Speaker of the House. I sincerely look forward to working with him and his caucus to deliver positive results for our state.”

“Voters expect progress and results, and that’s what they will get from a DFL majority,” Thissen concluded. “We take seriously the responsibility that was given to us and will work hard with Governor Dayton and Republican legislators to govern effectively. It is going to take all of us working together to meet the challenges facing us. Yesterday was a great day for Minnesota. We are ready to get to work.”

The new House DFL majority will consist of 73 members — pending the recount in District 8B.
