Rep. Paul Thissen: GOP finish session as they started – putting corporations first

Saint Paul, Minnesota –House Minority Leader Paul Thissen released the following statement following Governor Dayton’s veto of the second Republican tax bill that increased the budget deficit for corporate and business tax cuts.

“Republicans finished the legislative session just as they started – catering to corporate special interests and ignoring middle class Minnesotans. The Governor rightly vetoed the Republican’s recycled attempt to provide big tax breaks to big business while ignoring the steep property tax hikes facing homeowners, seniors, and farmers.

Minnesotans are tired of the failed Republican approach that priorities big corporations and counts on their profits to eventually “trickle down” jobs for the rest of us. But the truth is you do not need to be a CEO or have an “INC” behind your name to help our economy grow.

We need a broad economic agenda that recognizes the strength of our economy hinges both on a vibrant business community and a strong middle class.”
