Time for an up-or-down vote on the Vikings stadium

Calls on Speaker Zellers to bring Vikings stadium bill up for a vote on the House floor

Saint Paul, Minnesota – House Minority Leader Paul Thissen released the following statement on the Minnesota Vikings stadium bill that is eligible to be taken up on the House floor as soon as this afternoon.

“Today in the Minnesota House the Vikings stadium bill is eligible to be taken up for a vote. It is time for us to do so.

I will be voting yes on the Vikings Stadium bill and a big reason is job creation. We have done next to nothing this session to create jobs and the Vikings stadium is without doubt a jobs bill.

Representative Lanning said in the Star Tribune he believed his caucus had their proportion of votes in the Majority to pass the bill if Democrats did the same. If that is true, then we can pass this bill today. Although there will be Democrats both supporting and opposing the bill, I am confident enough Democrats support the stadium bill to move it forward.

Now is time for Speaker Zellers to step out from the shadows and put the Vikings stadium bill up for a vote. It is also time for Speaker Zellers to tell Minnesotans if he actually supports the bill.

Time is running out. We need to step forward and resolve this issue once and for all."
