“Governor focused on jobs. Now the ball is in our court."
House Minority Leader Paul Thissen released the following statement in response to Governor Dayton’s State of the State address.
“Governor Dayton delivered a clear and hopeful message tonight about our call to leave this state better than we found it. I am confident we can answer this call if we focus on the bread and butter issues important to Minnesotans– creating jobs, strengthening our education system, and improving our economy for middle class Minnesotans.
I am particularly encouraged by the Governor’s sense of urgency on creating jobs. Time is of the essence this session and we must get to work.
Now the ball is in our court. It’s time for the Legislature to set aside distracting constitutional amendment and start focusing on jobs. The DFL has introduced common sense ideas to support our small businesses, retrain workers and build a strong middle class. We hope Republicans in the Legislature will work with us to create jobs while laying the foundation for a strong economic future.
Minnesota has always left our state better off for the next generation – we can do the same.”
