FEIGNED OUTRAGE, MISPLACED PRIORITIES Statement from Minority Leader Thissen on GOP reaction to contingency planning
I am stunned that the republicans are concerned about delays to important government services that would result from shutdown, yet they have no concern about permanently cutting those very same services.
Majority Leader Dean argued today that hospital payments should be continued, given "life and safety" arguments, yet his budget is willing to kick 140,000 people off of health care and cut hospitals by $931 - "breath-taking" indeed.
Feigning outrage over a shutdown, going on tv with ads that spread lies, repeating those mistruths in press conferences and committee hearings, does nothing to prevent a devastating government shutdown. Neither does protecting the richest 2%.
