GOP DISTRACTIONS AND DELAYS MUST END Statement in response to gay marriage amendment from Minority Leader Thissen

With only 4 weeks to go to balance the budget, this is not the time to launch an effort to amend the state constitution to further divide Minnesotans from one another. Instead of focusing on gay marriage, Senator Limmer should get to work on the Public Safety budget that he’s responsible for. Engaging in delays and distractions is unacceptable.

Senator Limmer is the lead on the Judiciary and Public Safety Conference Committee. They have not met, despite repeated promises that the GOP is focused on the budget. There are significant differences between the House Republican and Senate Republican bills. Incredibly, it has been 26 days since the bill passed off of the House floor, yet the conference committee has not yet convened.

The clock is ticking. Minnesotans are waiting for an honest, responsible GOP budget.
