Statement: Budget gimmicks don't fix the budget problem
"While zero-based budgeting has its merits, it’s basically inside baseball. No matter how we do the math, the fact remains that Minnesota faces a massive budget hole and zero-based budgeting does absolutely nothing to fill that hole. What we’d like to see is a proposal for how we fix that hole and what the consequences of the Republican all-cuts approach will be.
Today’s announcements from the Majority do nothing to help one of the 209,000 Minnesotans who want a job get one and nothing to solve the state’s budget deficit. They may be fine proposals in the long term, but Minnesotans have real problems that they need solved now."
