ST. PAUL - State Representative Paul Thissen is launching two online discussion forums for residents of Richfield and Minneapolis to discuss important issues that are likely to be debated this year at the Capitol. One forum will focus on immigration and the other on eminent domain reform. In December, Thissen called on lawmakers to include eminent domain reform during the 2006 session.
"Since first elected, I have been astounded by the wealth of knowledge and expertise that residents of my district have on a broad range of issues. The simple truth is that the smartest and most creative ideas on various topics are not in the minds of folks at the Capitol. These forums are a way to capture the common sense that Minnesotans are known for," Thissen said.
The forums will allow users to interact and exchange ideas with each other and Rep. Thissen.
"Having one-on-one discussions is important; but many heads are better than two. These forums are a way to test and challenge ideas - and to share information and insights in a way that will improve all of our thinking on complex issues."
The immigration forum is located at http://www.livejournal.com/community/repthissen_imm and the eminent domain forum is located at http://www.livejournal.com/community/repthissen_emdo.
"In sponsoring these discussion forums, I am committing to learning from the collective wisdom of District 63A. I want to empower all residents to have their ideas heard," Thissen added.
Thissen represents parts of Richfield and South Minneapolis.
