NEWS AND VIEWS WITH REP. DENNY McNAMARA

I just wanted to give you a brief update on the Hastings bridge
project. Its moving along on the modified 6-8 week single lane
schedule. MnDOT is finishing up work on one side of the bridge and soon
will be switching to the other side - weather permitting - within the
next few days.

The Highway 61 bridge at Hastings will close two weekends in June The
Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the Highway 61
Mississippi River bridge at Hastings during two weekends in June in
order to remove, repair and re-install bridge bearings. The bridge
will be closed to all traffic the weekends of June 14-16 and June 21-22,
from 10 p.m. on Friday to 5:30 a.m. on Monday. During the closures,
traffic will detour on Interstate 494 and Highway 55 in Minnesota and
on State Highway 35 in Wisconsin. Bridge bearings are located on top of the bridge piers and
allow the structure's deck to move with temperature changes. Further
