ST. PAUL – New House Republican Leader Marty Seifert (R-Marshall) began filling out his leadership staff by appointing State Representative Denny McNamara (R-Hastings) as the House Minority Whip. It is the 3rd most powerful position in the House Republican caucus.
McNamara said the main function of the Minority Whip is to gather votes on major issues.
“I’m pleased to have earned the trust of Rep. Seifert,” McNamara said. “I feel I can bring new ideas and new energy to our caucus in this leadership position, and am ready to hit the ground running.”
Denny McNamara represents House District 57B, which covers the Hastings, Cottage Grove, and Afton areas. He is completing his second term in the Minnesota House, and was re-elected to his third term on November 7. Denny and his wife Lynne live in Hastings, and have two sons
