St. Paul, Minnesota – Members of the St. Paul legislative delegation applauded Governor Dayton’s bonding proposal today which includes $20 million for a new Saint Paul regional ballpark. The proposal would fund a public-private partnership with the City of St. Paul and the Saint Paul Saints. Legislators said the project will create jobs and directly strengthen Saint Paul’s economy at a time when jobs are the top priority.
“We applaud Governor Dayton for making this project a priority in his agenda to create jobs and grow Minnesota’s economy. This project will create 225 construction jobs and 240 full time and seasonal jobs. Over 400,000 visitors will use this new facility annually, directly contributing to $10 million in economic activity to the City and Lowertown.
By capturing record low interest rates we are able to move this valuable project forward at low cost to taxpayers with a big dividend to the region and state.
We look forward to working with supporters of this proposal including the St. Paul Chamber of Commerce, St. Paul Building Owners and Managers Association and many downtown businesses, so that we can grow our economy, strengthen St. Paul, and get Minnesotans back to work."
