Minnesota House Minority Leader Paul Thissen has named Rep. John Lesch (DFL - St. Paul) to the House DFL caucus leadership team for the 87th Legislative Session. Lesch will serve as one of four minority whips.
"Rep. Lesch is a strong advocate for his constituents and for Minnesotans," said Thissen. “I am gratified by his willingness to work with me to tackle the challenges that await us.”
Rep. John Lesch will begin his 5th term in the House. He also serves as a prosecutor for the City of St. Paul, and as a commissioned officer and infantry platoon leader in the Minnesota Army National Guard.
"We have a permanent structural deficit with a budget shortfall creeping toward $6 billion," Rep. Lesch said. "Tough choices await all legislators. Our role will be to hold Republicans accountable for the fix."
Joining Lesch on Rep. Thissen’s leadership team will be Rep. Deb Hilstrom, Brooklyn Center, Rep. Terry Morrow, St. Peter, Rep. Larry Hosch, St. Joseph, and Rep. Melissa Hortman, Brooklyn Park.
"I am very excited to work with this leadership team," said Rep. Thissen. "The team reflects the breadth of our caucus which represents every part of this state. Each of them brings an important set of skills that will serve our caucus and Minnesotans well."
