REP. FRANK HORNSTEIN APPOINTED TO KEY COMMITTEE POSITION

Hornstein new DFL lead for House Transportation Committee

ST. PAUL, MN – State Rep. Frank Hornstein (DFL – Minneapolis) was appointed to a key committee position today in the Minnesota House of Representatives. Hornstein, recently elected to his fifth term in the Minnesota Legislature, will serve as the DFL lead on the House Transportation Committee. Hornstein previously served as House Chair of Transportation and Transit Policy and Oversight Committee.

“It’s vital we continue to invest in a 21st century transportation system in Minnesota that expands transit opportunities and reduces our reliance on foreign oil," said Hornstein. “As a lead on transportation issues, I will promote that kind of vision for our future and hope to work with Governor Dayton on a transportation system that reflects what Minnesotans want and will utilize.”

Hornstein said he looked forward to the coming session, saying the key focus will be to balance the budget fairly and to create jobs.
“We have serious challenges ahead that will shape the future of our state for generations to come,” said Hornstein. "I will work to protect the safety net for our most vulnerable citizens, and build a more progressive tax system. It is completely unacceptable to balance the budget on the backs of the poor and middle-class taxpayers.”
