ST. PAUL – Joe Hoppe began his third term last week representing Chaska and Chanhassen in the Minnesota House. Hoppe pledged to continue working to preserve Minnesota’s natural resources and all the things that make it “the best state in the union.”
“It’s an honor and privilege to be given this responsibility and my overriding goal is to live up to what people expect from their representatives. We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to work on.”
“With a $2 billion budget surplus, it’s time to get down to work for property tax relief, education, jobs and transportation,” Hoppe said.
Hoppe will also have a focus on environmental issues. In his first four years, Hoppe earned a reputation for being a strong advocate for environmental protection and preservation. This year he will continue by working on three House environmental committees: the Environment and Natural Resources Finance Division; the Environment Committee; and the Game, Fish and Forestry Division.
“Every Minnesota has a memory of hunting with their dad and uncles, going to the cabin with their family, fishing or swimming with their friends in the local lake. It’s part of who we are and something we should preserve so future generations can share those same memories,” Hoppe said. He will serve on two other committees: the Energy Finance and Policy Committee; and the Telecom Regulation/Infrastructure Division.
Hoppe was first elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2004 and 2006. He lives in Chaska with his wife and their two young children.
