REP. HOPPE ANNOUNCES $500K CHASKA RENTAL CONSTRUCTION GRANT
ST. PAUL – State Representative Joe Hoppe (R-Chaska) on Monday announced that the Department of Employment and Economic Development (DEED) has awarded the city of Chaska a $500,000 grant for the purpose of new rental construction. The grant is part of DEED’s 2006 Awarded Community Development Block Grant Projects Small Cities Development Program.
“This is great news for the continued development and growth of Chaska,” Hoppe said. “I want to express my deepest appreciation to everyone who was involved in making the grant possible. It is a highly competitive process, requiring a lot hard work and a deep commitment to the end result. I look forward to the positive impact this grant will have on the city of Chaska.”
For more than 20 years, the development program has utilized public and private resources to provide communities the opportunities to receive financial assistance for economic development projects, affordable housing and public infrastructure. Funded projects can include residential and rental rehabilitation, new housing construction, public infrastructure improvements, and revitalization of downtown commercial districts. The program principally benefits low-and moderate-income families.
For 2006, 35 Minnesota communities were grants through the Small Cities Development Program.
