NEWS RELEASE

FIRST BUDGET BILLS GO TO THE GOVERNOR

The first major budget bill went to Governor Pawlenty’s desk this week and the indication is that he will sign it. It covers agriculture and veterans. Here are the highlights:

RENEWABLE FUELS - The bill will help keep the ethanol industry going by continuing ethanol producer payments. It will also establish the innovative NextGen Energy Board give preference to projects that utilize a variety of bio-mass feed-stock sources and differing geographic locations.

VETERANS - We have more Minnesotans serving overseas today than any time since World War II. They will return in August and we are making sure they receive the support they deserve by nearly doubling our outreach efforts.
