FIRST COMMITTEE DEADLINE IS HERE
This was a very busy week at the Capitol. Today (Friday) is our first committee deadline. Next week we will dive head-first into the major finance bills that are the main focus of session. We hope to get as many done before the Easter break as possible. Because of the expanded committee structure, a lot of these bills are coming together at the last minute. As they roll out and we decide what is in them, I will keep you updated on issues of local significance and the things everyone should know.
With this being Lent, I thought I’d pass along a few fish fries happening tonight. The Shakopee American Legion fry starts at 5 and runs until 8 at 1266 First Avenue East in Shakopee. The cost is $8. The Shakopee Knights of Columbus Fourth Degree also runs from 5 to 8 at the KC Hall (1760 Fourth Avenue) in Shakopee. The cost there is $9 for adults and $4 for children. Both are all-you-can-eat.
If you want to enjoy a great dinner and help a worthy cause, the Shakopee Ambassadors are holding a spaghetti fundraiser dinner on Saturday night from 5 to 8. Cost is $7 for adults and $5 for children 10 or younger. There will also be a silent auction so if you would like more information, please call 952-846-8088. The dinner will be at the American Legion (1266 First Avenue East) in Shakopee.
Speaking of the Knights of Columbus, their passion play this year will run March 29 through 31 at 8 p.m. each night. The play will be in the newly-restored Church of St. Mark’s on fourth Avenue at Atwood in Shakopee. My wife and I have enjoyed this free play for a number of years and we encourage you to make it part of your Easter plans.
