CAPITOL UPDATE
Friends,
In my previous email update I said I would update you on the various Scott County bonding projects once the House bonding bill was released. Like the Senate, the House recommended $5.375 million for adding 94 new beds to the Shakopee prison and does not include money for the fence. Because both bodies recommended the same amount the chances are very good that this will be the final bonding amount granted for the prison.
The House boosted funding for the Scott County joint training facility, recommending $1 million for the project. The Senate asked for $600,000, so I expect that when the House and Senate meet in conference committee the final bonding amount will far somewhere on or in between these two numbers.
The House also recommended $298,000 for the Cleary Lake Regional Park. We plan to vote on our bill next Wednesday, April 12 and then recess for the Easter holiday. I’ll continue to keep you update.
