In addition to corn dogs, cows, and carnival games, local residents will be able to share their questions and concerns at the Minnesota State Fair with State Representatives Joe Atkins of Inver Grove Heights and Lloyd Cybart of Apple Valley this year. Atkins, a democrat, and Cybart, a republican, will hold a bipartisan town meeting at the State Fair on Monday, August 29, 2005. The town meeting will be at the House of Representatives booth in the Education Building from 2-4pm.
Atkins, who has held dozens of town meetings as a state representative and previously as the mayor of Inver Grove Heights, said he hopes to keep the meeting very informal. “This is just a chance for folks to tell us what’s on their mind," said Atkins. “We want to make it comfortable place for people to ask questions and share concerns.”
Representative Atkins said he will be holding more town meetings closer to home this fall, but thought the “Great Minnesota Get Together” would be a great place to get together with constituents to talk about topics like education, health care and transportation.
