LOCAL RESIDENTS MEMBERS OF MINNESOTA STATE FIRE SERVICE MEMORIAL PIPE BAND
To the editor:
It has come to my attention that two Inver Grove Heights residents, Richard Cady and Lynn Ista, are key members and leaders of the Minnesota State Fire Service Memorial Pipe Band.
Frankly, I didn't know much about the Minnesota Fire Service Memorial Pipe Band until recently. I have since learned the band plays for free at funerals for fallen firefighters and soldiers, as well as at Beyond the Yellow Ribbon and National Guard events. They have done this for many years.
While they have never sought recognition, I just wanted to take a moment to thank Richard and Lynn, and all of the members of the Minnesota Fire Service Memorial Pipe Band, for their service. I'm sure their presence means a lot to the grieving families of fallen soldiers and firefighters.
In those times of tragedy, we sometimes feel powerless. But little acts of kindness and support matter, and I’m glad to see another group doing what they can to help.
