ST. PAUL, MN – The House Commerce and Labor Committee will hear various gambling expansion bills Thursday afternoon. Every legislator with a gambling expansion proposal has been invited to present information about their bill. Legislation invited to be heard before the committee would:
• Allow slot machines in bars (HF2034 – Brown)
• Allow slot machines at the Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport (HF2354 – Kahn)
• Allow slot machines at horse tracks (HF2578 – Juhnke)
• Allow sports bookmaking (HF2984 – Kahn)
“With the state suffering from a budget deficit, a number of gambling expansion proposals have been offered up to help," said Rep. Joe Atkins, chair of the House Commerce and Labor Committee. “Our committee’s job is to examine advantages and disadvantages of these ideas, to see which proposals are sure-things, and which are long-shots.”
The hearing will begin at 4:30pm in the Basement Hearing room of the State Office Building.
