ATKINS: ON A STICK?

ST. PAUL – The Minnesota State Fair is on the horizon, starting in just four weeks. Since 1859, Minnesotans have come from every corner of the state to enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of The Great Minnesota Get-Together – but most of all to eat deep-fried food on sticks.

This year, there is a new attraction at the Fair that may draw crowds from Inver Grove Heights and South St. Paul in particular – Rep. Joe Atkins. And while he may not be on a stick, Atkins will be on-demand from his constituents answering questions, taking suggestions for legislation, and just plain spending time with people from the community.

"The State Fair is a great way for Minnesotans to come together and celebrate our great history, heritage, and all the things that make our state one of the best in the nation," said Atkins. "I want to hear from the people of Inver Grove Heights, South St. Paul, and citizens from all over the state how we can make Minnesota even better. What better place to do that than the Minnesota State Fair?"

Rep. Atkins will be at the State Fair on Thursday, August 23rd from 2–4 p.m. at the Minnesota House of Representatives booth located in the Education Building on Cosgrove Street.

"I encourage all of my constituents to come and meet me at the Fair," said Atkins. "I also highly encourage my constituents to bring me pronto pups, funnel cakes, and cheese curds," Atkins joked.

Rep. Atkins will also be holding other Town Hall Meetings within the community this fall. Look for more information about these meetings in the coming weeks.

Atkins is serving his third term in the Minnesota House of Representatives. He is the Chair of the Commerce and Labor Committee and serves on the Taxes Committee, Higher Education and Work Force Development Policy and Finance Division, Labor and Consumer Protection Division, and the Telecommunications Regulation and Infrastructure Division. Rep. Atkins can be reached at by phone at (651) 296-4192, and by email at rep.joe.atkins@house.mn.
