On Wednesday, November 16, the Winona Senior High School Advanced Placement American Government students will join with the Winona Senior Learning Community in examining national health care issues.
The students, who are participating with The National Issues Forums Institute, will report their findings on the 16th from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in the St. Mary's Church Common Area.
The Winona State University "Teaching Social Studies in the Secondary" students will provide a presentation of the results. The presentation will also be recorded for final transmission to the National Issues Forums Institute. Both the AP American Government students and the Winona State students are taught by Gene Pelowski, a teacher at Winona High School and a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives.
"Affordable and adequate health care for all of our citizens is quickly becoming the primary challenge facing our county," said Pelowski. "These students represent some of the brightest minds of this generation; I am confident that many of their ideas will provide insight and direction for the future."
The public is invited to attend.
