ST. PAUL - State Representative Gene Pelowski (DFL-Winona) said this evening's bi-partisan vote on a renewable energy standard bill was a great show of bi-partisanship. The legislation, which requires 25 percent of Minnesota's electricity to come from renewable sources by 2025, passed the House on a 123 to 10 vote.
"Nearly every Minnesotan will benefit from a strong renewable energy industry," said Pelowski. "Minnesota is going to lead the nation in renewable energy production and innovation."
Pelowski said he hopes the renewable energy vote is the first of many bi-partisan common ground bills to make it through the Legislature.
"There's a new dynamic at the Capitol," Pelowski added. "Minnesotans told us to produce results, tonight is another example."
Since the legislation passed tonight is identical to one passed by the Senate earlier this month, it heads straight to the Governor's desk. He's expected to sign it into law.
