PELOWSKI OFFICIALLY TAKES COMMITTEE GAVEL
ST. PAUL - State Representative Gene Pelowski of Winona was officially sworn in for his 11th term in the Minnesota House today. Pelowski took the oath of office alongside the 133 other House members.
"This past November, my constituents and a majority of Minnesotans told us to work together on a common agenda for our state," Pelowski said. "They told us to stop the double-digit tuition increases at our state colleges and universities, make health care more affordable and accessible, and provide permanent property tax relief."
With the new Legislature convened, Rep. Pelowski is now officially Chairman of the House Government Operations Reform, Technology and Elections Committee. He will also sit on the Capital Investment, Education and Economic Competitiveness, and State Government Finance Committees along with the powerful Rules and Legislative Administration and Ways and Means Committees.
Pelowski said he is looking forward to a more productive and civil legislative session.
"This fall's election wasn't simply about a new direction or a focus on the basics," Pelowski added. "It was also about the kind of government Minnesota deserves. If we're going to address the challenges facing us, we need to find common ground and recognize that no one party has a monopoly on good ideas."
