ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault (MNCASA) recently honored Rep. Michael Paymar (DFL-St. Paul) for his work in confronting violence as part of the group's first annual AWARE awards. Paymar, who serves as Chair of the House Public Safety Finance Division and as a Resource Specialist for the Battered Women’s Justice Project, has long been an advocate for domestic violence victims in the Legislature.
"MNCASA is an important partner as we work to address and prevent the problem of sexual violence," Paymar said. "I'm humbled and feel honored that they chose to recognize me for this award."
Also honored with awards were Assistant Ramsey County Attorney Jeanne Schleh, Former State Sexual Violence Prevention Program Administrator Amy Okaya, State Senator Mary Olson, and Chuck Derry and Frank Jewell from the Minnesota Men's Action Network.
Paymar is currently working on this year's Public Safety Omnibus Finance bill, which includes more protections for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
