The new redistricting maps came out on Tuesday. Every 10 years after the census is taken, the legislative and congressional district lines are redrawn. My district will stay mostly intact and add the city of Perham and Perham Township. If you’d like more information please visit the state geographic information services website.
HF 863 grants money to Otter Tail County for reconstruction of flood-damaged property. This bill received a hearing in the House Transportation Committee on Wednesday. This bill would help repair roads damaged by high waters, and help repair the dam under the Phelps Mill Bridge.
HF2008 creates a motorcycle road guard certificate under which a person can stop and hold traffic during a motorcycle group ride. This bill passed the House Transportation Committee and is headed to the House Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee.
Permits holders of a motorcycle road guard certificate who are acting as a flagger for a motorcycle ride to stop and hold traffic, and override traffic control devices to direct motorcycle operators to other vehicles. This bill would require drivers to remain stopped until directed to proceed.
An urgent bill was voted on during Monday’s floor session to create more stringent community notification requirements for civilly committed sex offenders who are being provisionally discharged from the Minnesota Sex Offender Program (MSOP). It requires community notification prior to entering a halfway house as part of their release.
