LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Caucus meetings Feb. 2

To the editor-

I encouragelocal citizens to have their voice heard and get involved in the political process by attending precinct caucus meetings Feb. 2.

These meetings are really the grass roots of politics as local party units gather to discuss issues and share ideas, choose delegates and express candidate preferences. You also have the opportunity to run for delegate or alternate, present a resolution, volunteer your time, or even running for office.

A lot of people in our area regularly attend their caucus meetings and I ask those folks to spread the word and bring a friend or family member who has not participated in the past. We are at a very important time in our state’s history and the more people we have engaged, the better.

All of the Feb. 2 caucus meetings will begin at 7 p.m. Here are locations for area meetings:

GOP locations
Battle Lake Lakes Area Community Center (112 1st St.)
Fergus Falls Cleveland Elementary School (919 Northern Ave. N.)
Pelican Rapids Senior Center (1st. St. N.W.)

DFL locations
Battle Lake Senior Citizen Center (205 Main St. W.)
Fergus Falls Senior High School (502 Friberg Ave.)
Pelican Rapids Public Library (25 Mill Ave.)

More information regarding specific caucus may be obtained by calling the county auditor’s office or by visiting the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Web site: www.sos.state.mn.us/home/index.asp.

Sincerely,
State Rep. Bud Nornes
