LETTER TO THE EDITOR

(MAINLY) RESPECTFUL CROWD USES ITS VOICE

To the editor-

It was impressive to see an estimated 725 citizens gather at NP Park in the heart of Fergus Falls Tuesday to share their common concern for a federal government that is out of control under Pres. Obama.

For two hours on a cool Minnesota night, citizens stepped to the microphone and shared their fear of the government actions. Issues ranged from health care to the skyrocketing debt. As children played in the park playground, speakers pointed to the next generation and the consequences our children face if current policies and changes are passed by Congress.

The crowd was very respectful and well-behaved with the exception of one local DFL official, who insisted on carrying his American flag upside-down. Scott Hennen, chairman of the Common Sense Club on radio station "The Flag" pointed out that is a universal signal for distress. Hennen served as the emcee for the evening and has participated in all of the Tea Parties held in northern Minnesota and North Dakota.

I was joined by several current and former state legislators in attendance. Active Reps. Mark Murdock of Perham and Torrey Westrom of Alexandria were on hand, while former Sen. Cal Larson of Fergus Falls and former Rep. Bob Westfall of Rothsay also attended.

Sincerely,
Bud Nornes,
State Representative
