LETTER TO THE EDITOR

AREA LONG-TERM PROVIDERS EARN GRANTS

To the editor:

Congratulations to both local long-term care organizations that recently were awarded grants from the Minnesota Department of Human Services, helping aging area residents live independently and helping caregivers.

Pelican Rapids Organizing Acts of Kindness and Tri-County Hospital received Community Service/Community Services Development and Caregiver Respite grants. The DHS awarded 42 grants totaling $6.2 million overall.

The DHS issued a press release stating these projects are designed to increase the supply of home and community-based services, such as chronic disease management, transportation, help with chores and home repairs and caregiver education and support. They also have provided support for moving home care services into existing housing and helped to build or renovate hundreds of units of affordable senior housing.

Sincerely,
Bud Nornes
State Representative
