NEWS RELEASE

NORNES INVITES GOV. PAWLENTY TO TOUR FLOODED AREAS

ST. PAUL - Many lakes in Otter Tail County have been experiencing extremely high water conditions. State Rep. Bud Nornes has described the situation as a low motion flood.

To better understand the extent of the crisis, Nornes has asked Gov. Pawlenty to visit Otter Tail County and to see first-hand the water damage many home and cabin owners are battling.

“This area is slowly being devastated by flooding, and I’m hoping if the governor sees what we’re experiencing, he will recommend some state assistance,” Nornes said. “The state has come to the aid of flood victims along the Red River and similar help should be considered for lakes that need water solutions.”

Among the lakes the Governor could tour include Johnson Lake, Crooked Lake, Sewell Lake, Pebble Lake, Norway Lake, and Turtle Lake.

Nornes said he is awaiting a reply from Pawlenty’s office. Meanwhile he is pleased to see the city of Fergus Falls, Otter Tail County, DNR and property owners working together to find ways to lower lake levels.
